Description

This Vanilla French Beignets recipe creates light, airy pastries that are golden on the outside, soft inside, and generously dusted with powdered sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  • Combine warm milk and sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle yeast and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large bowl, whisk flour and salt. Add eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and yeast mixture. Mix to form a sticky dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled.
  • Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness and cut into 2-inch squares. Let rise on parchment for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry dough squares in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
  • Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar while warm.

Notes

  • Ensure oil temperature remains steady at 350°F for even frying.
  • Serve fresh for the best texture and flavor.
  • Add cinnamon or nutmeg to the dough for a flavor twist.
