Strawberry Shortcake Trifle: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

  • Author: Lauren Baker
  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

– 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
– 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for macerating strawberries)
– 1 pound pound cake or sponge cake, cut into cubes
– 3 cups heavy whipping cream
– ½ cup powdered sugar
– 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
– Fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Creating a delicious strawberry shortcake trifle is simple when following these easy steps:

1. Prepare the Strawberries: In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and granulated sugar. Toss gently and let them sit for about 15 minutes to allow the natural juices to be released.

2. Make the Whipped Cream: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the heavy whipping cream until it starts to thicken. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue to whip until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.

3. Assemble the Trifle:
– Start by adding a layer of the cubed cake at the bottom of a large glass trifle dish or individual serving glasses.
– Spoon a layer of the macerated strawberries over the cake cubes.
– Add a generous layer of whipped cream on top of the strawberries.
– Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the dish, finishing with a layer of whipped cream.

4. Chill: If you have time, place the trifle in the refrigerator for at least an hour to let the flavors mingle. This also allows the cake to soak up some strawberry juices.

5. Garnish: Before serving, add a few fresh strawberries and mint leaves on top for an elegant finish.
