  • For the Danish Pastry:
    2 puff pastry sheets, thawed
    1 large egg (lightly beaten with 1 teaspoon water)
    23 tablespoons sugar (optional for topping)
  • Optional Toppings:
    ¼ cup (60 ml) strawberry jam
    1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
    ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
    23 tablespoons (30–45 ml) milk

Instructions

  • Thaw the puff pastry at room temperature for 30–45 minutes.
  • Mix sliced strawberries with sugar and cornstarch. Let rest for 15 minutes.
  • Beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Cut puff pastry into rectangles. Lightly score a ¼-inch border around each.
  • Spread cream cheese filling in the center and top with strawberries.
  • Brush the edges with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar if desired.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until puffed and golden.
  • Cool slightly, then add strawberry jam or powdered sugar glaze if desired.
