Description

Flaky puff pastry hearts filled with a creamy cheesecake mixture and topped with sweet strawberry jam. These easy Strawberry Cream Cheese Danishes are perfect for brunch, Valentine’s Day, or a quick sweet treat!


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tbsp flour (for dusting)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup strawberry jam (or fresh strawberries, diced)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Lightly dust your work surface with flour and roll out the puff pastry.
  • Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out 6-8 hearts from the pastry.
  • Lightly score a smaller heart inside each pastry heart to create a border.
  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Spread a small amount of cream cheese mixture inside each heart.
  • Add a dollop of strawberry jam or fresh strawberry mixture on top.
  • Brush the edges of each pastry with beaten egg for a golden crust.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  • While cooling, mix powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze, then drizzle over danishes.

Notes

  • If using fresh strawberries, mix them with a little sugar and let them sit for 5 minutes.
  • For extra crunch, sprinkle coarse sugar on the pastry edges before baking.
