Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter: 1/3 cup, melted
  • Whole Milk: 3/4 cup
  • Vanilla Extract: 2 teaspoons
  • Granulated Sugar: 1 1/2 cups
  • All-Purpose Flour: 1 1/2 cups
  • Baking Powder: 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • Salt: 3/4 teaspoon
  • Ground Cinnamon: 2 teaspoons
  • Brown Sugar: 1 1/2 cups, packed
  • Hot Water: 1 1/2 cups
  • Topping – Granulated Sugar: 1/4 cup
  • Topping – Ground Cinnamon: 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with melted butter.
  • In a bowl, whisk together milk, vanilla, and granulated sugar. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon; mix until just combined.
  • Pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar over the batter and pour hot water evenly on top (don’t stir).
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is gooey.
  • Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon for the topping and sprinkle over the cobbler immediately after baking.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the batter for a tender cobbler.
  • The cobbler is best served warm but can be reheated in the oven.
  • Customize with extra spices like nutmeg or add sliced apples for variety.
