Description

Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, these Potato Cheese Sticks are the ultimate snack. Filled with gooey cheese and wrapped in a crunchy panko coating, they’re perfect for parties or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 russet potatoes, cooked and cubed
  • ¼ cup diced bacon
  • ¼ cup diced green onions
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 block cheddar cheese, cut into strips
  • ⅔ cup cornstarch
  • Flour, as needed
  • 12 eggs, beaten
  • 100 g panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 liter vegetable oil (canola or peanut oil)

Instructions

  • Mash cooked potatoes with bacon, green onions, sour cream, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Shape potato mixture into sticks with cheddar cheese strips in the center.
  • Coat each stick in cornstarch, then dip in beaten egg and roll in panko breadcrumbs. Repeat for extra crispiness.
  • Refrigerate coated sticks for 30 minutes.
  • Fry in oil at 350°F (175°C) for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with marinara, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce

Notes

  • Double-coating the sticks ensures a crispier crust.
  • For a healthier option, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway through.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheat in the oven for best results.
