Ingredients
– 9 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
– 1 pound Italian sausage (or ground beef)
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 small onion (diced)
– 2 cloves garlic (minced)
– 3 cups marinara sauce
– 2 cups water (or broth)
– 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
– 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
– ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh basil (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
Making One Pot Skillet Lasagna is straightforward if you follow these steps:
1. Brown the Meat: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage (or ground beef) and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon in the process.
2. Add Aromatics: Stir in the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
3. Break the Noodles: While the meat is cooking, break the lasagna noodles into thirds to fit in the skillet.
4. Combine Ingredients: Add the broken noodles to the skillet. Pour in the marinara sauce and water (or broth). Stir well to combine.
5. Season: Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper over the mixture. Stir again to ensure even distribution of the seasonings.
6. Simmer: Bring the skillet to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the pasta is cooked al dente, stirring occasionally.
7. Add Ricotta: Once the pasta is done, spoon dollops of ricotta cheese over the top. Gently fold it into the pasta mixture.
8. Add Cheeses: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top. Cover the skillet again for another 2-3 minutes until the cheeses are melted and bubbly.
9. Finish Cooking: Once the cheese is thoroughly melted, remove from heat. Allow it to cool slightly before serving.
10. Garnish: For an added touch, garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
