These Easy Homemade McGriddle Breakfast Sandwiches are the ultimate sweet-and-savory breakfast option. Fluffy pancakes, savory sausage, creamy eggs, and optional extras like cheese and bacon make this a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Pancakes:
    • 1⅓ cups all-purpose flour
    • 2/3 cup milk
    • 3 tablespoons melted butter
    • 1 large egg
    • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
    • 2½ tablespoons maple syrup
    • Pinch of salt
  • Eggs:
    • 6 large eggs
    • 1 cup milk
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Sausage Patties:
    • 1 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • Optional Additions:
    • 8 slices cooked bacon
    • 4 slices American or cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Prepare the sausage patties: Shape ground sausage into four patties and cook in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3 minutes per side. Set aside. Cook bacon (if using) until crispy.
  • Make pancake batter: Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In another bowl, mix milk, melted butter, egg, and maple syrup. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  • Cook pancakes: Heat a griddle or non-stick skillet and pour ¼ cup batter per pancake. Cook until bubbles form, flip, and cook until golden. Repeat to make eight pancakes.
  • Prepare eggs: Whisk eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook ¼ of the mixture in a non-stick skillet with butter, folding into a square. Repeat for four folded eggs.
  • Assemble sandwiches: Place a sausage patty, egg, and optional bacon and cheese between two pancakes. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Customize the recipe with turkey sausage, plant-based patties, or alternative cheeses.
  • Freeze individually wrapped sandwiches for up to one month and reheat in the microwave or oven.
  • Add maple syrup drizzle for extra sweetness.
