Description

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast: Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Prepare the Dough: Mix egg, melted butter, and vanilla, then add the yeast mixture. Gradually incorporate flour and salt, kneading until smooth.
  • Let the Dough Rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  • Shape the Beignets: Roll out dough to ¼-inch thickness and cut into squares or circles.
  • Fry the Beignets: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry in batches for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  • Dust and Serve: Generously coat with powdered sugar and serve warm.
