Fourth of July Rice Krispie Treats: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

  • Author: Lauren Baker
  • Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

– 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
– 1 bag (10 oz) mini marshmallows
– 3 tablespoons butter
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Red food coloring
– Blue food coloring
– 1 cup white chocolate chips (optional for drizzling)
– Red, white, and blue sprinkles (optional for garnish)

Instructions

Creating these festive snacks is simpler than you might think! Just follow these easy steps:

1. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

2. Add Vanilla: Stir in vanilla extract to the marshmallow mixture for extra flavor.

3. Combine with Rice Krispies: Gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal into the melted marshmallow mix, stirring until well-coated.

4. Divide the Mixture: Divide the mixture into three separate bowls. Leave one bowl plain, color the second bowl red with food coloring, and the third bowl blue.

5. Layer the Mixtures: In a greased 9×13-inch baking pan, start layering the mixtures. First, press the plain mixture evenly into the bottom of the pan. Follow with the red mixture, and finally, add the blue mixture on top, pressing down gently.

6. Melt White Chocolate (Optional): If using, melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals until smooth.

7. Drizzle Chocolate: Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the top layer of treats.

8. Add Sprinkles: Enhance the festive look by adding red, white, and blue sprinkles on top.

9. Cool and Chill: Let the treats cool for about 30 minutes before cutting them into rectangles or squares.

10. Serve: Store any leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
