Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare an 8-inch round cake pan by greasing it and lining the bottom with parchment paper.
  • Melt the chocolate and butter together in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth.
  • Stir in the sugar, espresso powder (if using), and vanilla extract.

  • Fold in the cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder (if using).
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 25–30 minutes, using a toothpick to check for doneness.
