Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 5 slices bread (white or whole wheat)
  • ¾ cup chopped onion
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ⅓ cup ketchup (optional, for topping)
  • 3 strips turkey or beef bacon (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Soak bread in evaporated milk for 5 minutes, then mash.
  • Add chopped onion, salt, and black pepper to the bread mixture.
  • Mix in ground beef until just combined.
  • Shape into a loaf and place in a greased baking dish.
  • Spread ketchup on top (if using) and lay bacon strips over the loaf.

Notes
