Description

These Cowboy Butter Steak Sliders feature tender, juicy steak layered with me++lted cheese, caramelized onions, and a rich, flavorful cowboy butter sauce. Perfect for parties, game days, or a delicious dinner, these sliders are easy to make and packed with bold flavors.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs boneless steak (ribeye, filet, or sirloin)
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • Kosher salt & black pepper (to taste)
  • 3 sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 9 slider buns
  • ¾ lb havarti cheese (or Fontina)

For the Cowboy Butter:

  • 1 stick unsalted butter (room temp)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ lemon (zested & juiced)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp chives, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, minced
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Steak – Trim excess fat, season with salt, pepper, and oil, then let it rest in the fridge for a few hours or overnight.
  • Make the Cowboy Butter – Melt butter, mix in garlic, lemon juice, mustard, spices, and herbs, then set aside.
  • Cook the Steak – Grill or sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side, brushing with cowboy butter. Let it rest for 10 minutes, then slice thinly.
  • Caramelize the Onions – Cook onions in butter over medium heat for about 15 minutes until golden and soft.
  • Assemble the Sliders – Toast buns with cowboy butter, layer cheese, caramelized onions, and steak.
  • Broil & Serve – Broil for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add more red pepper flakes.
  • Can be made with different cheese varieties like cheddar or gouda.
