A flavorful homemade Chicken Shawarma recipe featuring juicy grilled chicken thighs marinated in Middle Eastern spices, served in pita with crisp veggies and a creamy yogurt-based sauce. Easy, halal, and perfect for family dinners or meal prep.
Ingredients

2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thigh fillets

2 cloves garlic, minced

3 tbsp lemon juice

3 tbsp olive oil

2 tsp ground coriander

2 tsp ground cumin

2 tsp paprika

2 tsp salt

1 tsp ground allspice

¼ tsp black pepper

8 pita breads
-
3 cups shredded lettuce

1 red onion, thinly sliced

4 tomatoes, sliced

1½ cups plain yogurt

2 tbsp mayonnaise

1 tbsp Sriracha sauce

1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

In a bowl, mix garlic, lemon juice, oil, and all spices for the marinade.

Add chicken, toss to coat, and marinate for at least 1 hour (overnight preferred).

Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate.

Grill chicken for 6–8 minutes per side until fully cooked. Let rest, then slice.

Warm pita, add sauce, veggies, chicken, and more sauce as desired.
