  • For the Chicken:
    • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into 4 cutlets)
    • ½ cup milk
    • ¾ cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
    • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • For the Basil Cream Sauce:
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth
    • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
    • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
    • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
    • ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Slice chicken breasts in half horizontally to create 4 thin cutlets. Pound them to ½-inch thickness for even cooking.
  • Season chicken with salt and black pepper, then dip in milk and coat with breadcrumbs.
  • In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Cook chicken for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Transfer to a plate.
  • In the same skillet, sauté garlic for 30 seconds. Pour in chicken broth, deglaze the pan, and bring to a boil.
  • Add heavy cream and let it simmer for 3–4 minutes. Stir in Parmesan, fresh basil, and black pepper. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  • Return chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over the cutlets, and let sit for a minute. Serve hot with your favorite sides!

Notes

For extra crunch, you can use panko breadcrumbs. If you want a lighter version, swap half-and-half for heavy cream.
