1. Prepare the Potatoes: Start by peeling the potatoes and cutting them into uniform fry shapes. Aim for about 1/4 inch thick for optimal crispiness.

2. Soak the Fries: Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water. Soak them for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This step is crucial for achieving that crispy texture.

3. Drain and Dry: After soaking, drain the fries and lay them out on a clean kitchen towel. Pat them dry thoroughly; moisture will cause the oil to splatter and will prevent the fries from crisping up.
