Description

Ingredients

  • For the Cake: All-purpose flour (2 cups), granulated sugar (2 cups), black cocoa powder (¾ cup), baking powder (2 tsp), baking soda (1½ tsp), salt (1 tsp), buttermilk (1 cup), vegetable oil (½ cup), eggs (2), vanilla extract (2 tsp), hot coffee (1 cup).
  • For the Frosting: Unsalted butter (1 cup, melted), black cocoa powder (1 cup), powdered sugar (4 cups), vanilla extract (2 tsp), salt (½ tsp), heavy cream (½ cup).

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line three 8-inch round pans.
  • Mix dry ingredients. Combine wet ingredients and add to dry mixture. Stir in hot coffee.
  • Divide batter into pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Prepare frosting by mixing melted butter, cocoa powder, and other ingredients. Adjust cream for consistency.
  • Layer cakes with frosting, apply crumb coat, chill, then finish frosting.
  • Decorate as desired and serve!
