Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Beef Stir Fry:

    • 11.2 lbs flank steak, thinly sliced
    • ¼ cup cooking oil (divided)
    • ½ head of broccoli (~1 heaping cup)
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • ⅓ cup carrot slices (optional)
    • ¼ cup red bell pepper slices (optional)
  • For the Marinade:

    • 23 tbsp coconut aminos (or soy sauce)
    • ½ tsp baking soda (for extra tenderness)
    • 1 tbsp arrowroot flour (to thicken the sauce)
  • For the Stir Fry Sauce:

    • ⅓ cup coconut aminos (or soy sauce)
    • ¼ cup water or beef broth
    • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
    • 2 tsp sesame oil
    • ½ tbsp arrowroot flour
  • For Garnish:

    • Sesame seeds and green onions (optional)

Instructions

  • Marinate the Beef: Thinly slice flank steak against the grain and mix with coconut aminos, baking soda, and arrowroot flour. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Prepare the Sauce: Whisk together coconut aminos, water, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and arrowroot flour in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Cook the Vegetables: Heat 2-3 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic, sauté for 30 seconds, then stir-fry broccoli and carrots for 3-4 minutes. Add bell peppers and cook for another minute.
  • Sear the Beef: Push the veggies to the side, add 1-2 tbsp oil, and sear beef slices for 1-2 minutes per side until browned.
  • Combine Everything: Pour in the stir fry sauce and mix until evenly coated. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve: Enjoy hot over steamed rice, cauliflower rice, or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

  • For extra tenderness, marinate the beef overnight.
  • Swap beef for chicken, shrimp, or tofu for variation.
  • Add a splash of water while cooking if the sauce thickens too much.
