Description

This Air Fryer 5-Cheese Lasagna Fritta is a crispy, golden-breaded Italian appetizer with a creamy, cheesy center. Made with ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, provolone, and Romano cheeses, these bite-sized lasagna rolls are air-fried to perfection for a healthier twist on the classic deep-fried version.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Lasagna Rolls:

  • 6 lasagna noodles, cooked & drained
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded provolone cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded Romano cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt

For Breading & Frying:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 ½ cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • Olive oil spray

For Serving:

  • 1 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cheese Filling: Mix ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, provolone, and Romano cheeses in a bowl. Add egg, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt. Stir well.
  • Cook the Lasagna Noodles: Boil lasagna noodles until al dente. Drain and lay them flat to cool.
  • Assemble the Rolls: Spread a thin layer of cheese mixture over each noodle, then roll them tightly.
  • Chill the Rolls: Refrigerate the rolls for 20 minutes to help them firm up.
  • Bread the Rolls: Slice rolls into smaller pieces. Coat in flour, dip in beaten eggs, and cover with breadcrumbs.
  • Air Fry: Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the basket with oil, place fritta pieces in a single layer, and air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Serve: Enjoy hot with marinara sauce and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Double coat in breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for a crunchier texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
